Tirthas in Chaturagiri
'Chandra Thirtha'
There is 'Chandra Theertha' on Sundara Mahalinga hill in Chaturagiri. In this lunar tirtha, if you pray to the Lord and take a bath once, you can get rid of five sins like murder, lust, and betrayal and get blessings.
Kelantinnia Theertha
This tirtha is on the north side of Chandra tirtha. It is a river of divine nature. It is believed that when the Devas and Rishis prayed to Lord Shiva, Lord Siva took a drop of the Ganga from his braided hair and left it in the middle of the four Giris and disappeared into the Linga. It is beneficial to bathe in holy rivers like Ganga, Godavari, Gomati, Indus, Tamiravaruni, Tungapathrai etc. Bathing in this river washes away all sins, so it is also called "Bavagari River".
Sandal Mahalingam Theertha
Above chaturagiri there is a dark forest called 'Kalivanam'. The theertha that comes from that is called Chandana Mahalingama theertha. It was the Agaya Ganga who separated from Lord Shiva due to the anger caused by Umayyal because the sage Bringa who worshiped lord siva instead of worshiping her and came to Chaturagiri to be in the Shivashakti form named Artha Nareeswarar and consecrated the linga and invited him for abhishekam. If you take a bath in this punnya tirtha, you will get rid of any sin and get salvation. Apart from this, Chaturagiri has the 'Thirumanjana Poikai' made by Saptha Kanyas, the maidservants of Goddess Parvati, for their bath.
A 'Brahmadirtham' made by Kalanginatha is in front of the shrine of Karuppanaswamy, the Chaturagiri hill guard. Apart from this, there are many Theerthas like 'Poikait Theertha', 'Pasukidait Theertha' and 'Kuliratti Theertha' built by Maharishis such as Goraka, Ramadeva, Bokar etc. in Chaturagiri hill.
